Late Ordovician (Katian) Graptolites and Shelly Fauna from the Phu Ngu Formation, North-East Vietnam

چکیده
Two new graptolite assemblages are identified from discrete intervals within the Phu Ngu Formation, Na Ri District, Bac Kan Province, north-east Vietnam. The graptolites occur in laminated mud/siltstones thought to be distal turbidite deposits. A low-diversity diplograptid sensu lato assemblage occurs mud-rich layers that interlaminated with silty and sandy horizons containing dendroid Dictyonema sp. This level also contains orthoconic nautiloids conulariids. few metres stratigraphically above, a second more diverse comprises single Dicellograptus, tentatively as D. flexuosus, together Climacograptus dorotheus Orthograptus truncatus pauperatus mud silt laminae yield brachiopods, nautiloids, conulariids, fragmentary trilobites, ostracods. ostracods include first East Asian occurrence of typically Baltic genus Kinnekullea, we describe species Kinnekullea gaia. suggest Late Ordovician Katian age, most probably Dicranograptus clingani Biozone, this being older than previous biostratigraphical constraints on Formation.

Miospore assemblages from Late Ordovician (Katian-Hirnantian), Ghelli Formation, Alborz Mountain Range North-eastern Iran: Palaeophytogeographic and palaeoclimatic implications
Well-preserved miospore assemblages are recorded from the Late Ordovician (Katian-Hirnantian), Ghelli Formation in Pelmis-gorge at the north-eastern Alborz Mountain The palynomorphs were extracted from siliciclastic deposits which are well-dated by using of marine palynomorphs (acritarchs and chitinozoans). The encountered miospore assemblages consist of 14 genera (28 species: 26 cryptospores a...
متن کاملGraptolites from glacial erratics of the Laerheide area, northern Germany
Ordovician and Silurian glacial erratics of the Laerheide area (Lower Saxony, north-western Germany) bear well-preserved graptolites. The faunas provide important information on the origin and transport direction of the sediments preserved in a kame, representing the Drenthe stadial of the Saalian glaciation. The faunas even include species not commonly encountered in the successions of mainlan...
متن کاملPathways and mechanisms of Late Ordovician (Katian) faunal migrations of Laurentia and Baltica
Late Ordovician strata within the Cincinnati Basin record a mass faunal migration event during the C4 and C5 depositional sequences. The geographic source region for the invaders and the paleoceanographic conditions that facilitated dispersal into the Cincinnati Basin has previously been poorly understood. Using Parsimony Analysis of Endemicity, biogeographic relationships among Laurentian and ...
متن کاملThe first report of cryptospore assemblages of Late Ordovician in Iran, Ghelli Formation, Eastern Alborz
For the first time, an assemblage of cryptospores, which includes 10 species belonging to nine genera, from the Upper Ordovicianstrata, is being reported, in Iran. These cryptospore assemblages were recovered from the upper part of Ghelli Formation., from theeastern Alborz Mountain range. These peri-Gondwanan cryptospores have been classified based on their morphology (monad, truedyad, pseudody...
متن کاملReview and palaeoecological analysis of the late Tremadocian – early Floian (Early Ordovician) cephalopod fauna of the Montagne Noire, France
By comparison with the relatively diverse Early Ordovician cephalopod faunas that lived in association with the low latitude carbonate platforms (e.g. Laurentia [Flower 1964]; Siberia [Balashov 1961]; China [Chen 1976]), those of the high latitude margins of Gondwana are of relatively low diversity, generally poorly known, and where known, often in need of revision. Of those high latitudinal as...
